HEALTH FAIR

HF

The Global Health and Education Project, Inc. (GHEP) is organizing a community-wide Health Fair to promote and facilitate activities conducive to positive health behaviors and lifestyles.

The Health Fair is an opportunity to raise awareness of general health and wellness issues in our community. The fair will provide health education and health promotion to improve the quality of life for residents of our communities.

The Health Fair will bring highly needed health and human services resources to our community residents. The fair will contribute to the upliftment of our community residents, addressing marked health and education disparities, and raising the quality of life for residents.

DATE: Saturday, May 14, 2016

VENUE: Riverdale Elementary School, 5006 Riverdale Road, Riverdale, MD 20737

TIME: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Featuring keynote speeches, workshops, live demonstrations, and lots of fun for children and our families!

The fair is open to everyone. The fair will be serving especially residents from Riverdale/Bladensburg, one of the 6 neighborhoods in the entire PG County facing significant health, educational, economic, and public safety challenges and needing urgent interventions.

We estimate that the fair will attract about 400-500 attendees from all across PG County as well as Washington, DC Metro area.

At the fair attendees will benefit from free health and educational opportunities, as well as preventative health screenings and educational opportunities. In addition, attendees will receive free information on the connection between the environment and human health and learn how to prevent environment-linked illnesses.

This year, the theme of the Health Fair is Communities Organized for Health and Environment or COHEN as we explore the relationship between community health the environment.
