You might be saying that we can’t change the world for these children. We can’t get all of them out of poverty. I agree, and you’re right. But what about giving them an opportunity to touch a computer and prepare them to wriggle out of poverty and ready for the 21st century? What about giving them the opportunity to unleash the power of information technology right in their rural village?
That’s exactly what the GHEP’s Rural African Children’s Digital Center (RAC-DC) is about. Seriously, we cannot get all children in rural villages in Africa out of poverty. But we can give the very few of them who make it to elementary school the opportunity to touch a computer? Once every week, RAC-DC will give a child an opportunity to learn to use a computer. We estimate that over 300 children will be touched and their lives changed forever.
We’re setting up our first RAC-DC in a rural village in South Eastern Nigeria. We’ve secured a temporary location for our first center. We need your support in the following areas:
- Desk top computers
- Lap top computers
- Stand-by generating sets
- Computer stands
- Teaching manuals
