Noor Alsafi is a recent graduate student in Master of Professional Studies in Statistical and Data Sciences from West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV, USA. Her undergraduate degree was in Business Economics. Her research interests are data mining, data analysis, statistical programming, and biostatistics. She completed multiple courses from leading universities in Statistics and Biostatistics.

During her graduate studies, Noor completed a number of capstone projects analyzing and programming data using multiple statistical software packages such as R and SAS. She loves working and help people. In 2010, she had the opportunity to be a member of the committee to help people were affected by a devastating torrent that shattered lives in her home country.

“It is this same passion and interest to help and give back that brought me to GHEP; I am so grateful for this opportunity which is certainly shaping my career and love for data analyses,” Noor says of her internship with GHEP.

Noor loves to learn what she calls “new stuff” about languages and culture. She enjoys watching documentary films, watching movies, meeting new people, and shopping.  She has proficiency in Arabic and English languages. While engaged in the global health internship with GHEP, Noor has developed a love for epidemiology and public health.

For her final internship project at GHEP, Noor is working on infant mortality in low and middle income countries of Africa and Asia.
